Save the Date: GFRAS 2026 Virtual Annual Meeting Focuses on Practitioner-Led Science

The Global Forum for Rural Advisory Services (GFRAS) has officially announced its 2026 Virtual Annual Meeting, scheduled to take place from October 27 to 29, 2026.

As a regional network dedicated to advancing extension services, the Rural Advisory Services Network of Southeast Asia (RASSEA) invites all members, practitioners, researchers, and partners across the region to participate in this major global forum.

Core Focus & Theme

This year’s meeting centers on the theme: “Practitioner-Led Science for Agricultural Extension Transformation”. Co-hosted by the University of Florida (UF) and the University of the Free State (UFS), the online event puts extension professionals at the very heart of knowledge generation.

The primary objective is to create a dynamic space where the knowledge gained directly through grassroots practice becomes more visible, credible, and influential on a global scale. It aims to significantly strengthen the ongoing professionalization of agricultural extension and rural advisory services (AEAS).

What to Expect Over the Three Days

According to official updates from the GFRAS community, attendees will engage in:

  • Real-World Case Studies: Learn from institutions successfully utilizing practitioner-centered frameworks, such as the innovative “Wearing Scientific Goggles” approach.
  • System Tools & Mechanisms: Explore the practical tools, recognition mechanisms, strategic partnerships, and resources needed to support knowledge generation led by field practitioners.
  • Future Strategic Outlook: Connect with global peers to collectively reflect on the shifting international development landscape, network resilience, and upcoming funding arrangements aligned with the newly launched GFRAS Strategy 2026–2035.

Who Should Attend?

The event is open to all actors across the agricultural innovation ecosystem, including rural advisory providers, farmer organizations, NGOs, policymakers, and research institutes.
